About Us


The Department of English was established in the year 1968, with the establishment of the college. As the second language, the language of English is prescribed for all programs as a compulsory subject. The students’ intake is 390 per year. The department has continually been striving for excellence in teaching and learning. Faculty members of the department are highly qualified, dedicated to motivate the students and make them compete the prevailing global competitive scenario. The faculty members lay emphasis on inclusion of modern teaching technologies viz. LCDs, digital and virtual modes of teaching. The department has the history of producing hundreds of human resources over the past years.

Vision


The vision of the department is to develop the department as a center for academic excellence through teaching and learning that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities and language competence of the students.

Mission


  • The mission of the department is to inculcate a strong desire to learn and use English for all personal and professional use.
  • To impart academic knowledge, employability skills as well as strong ethical values though language and literature.
  • To encourage the students to read literary and nonliterary texts in order to improve the four language skills i.e. Listening Speaking, Reading and Writing.
  • To employ innovative techniques and provide additional inputs as per the ever changing requirements of the job market.
  • To encourage the students to write something on their own in English.
  • To improve the four language skills of the students.
